Prayer
Prayer is communication with God.
We "pray" to God, we listen to God, we commune with God—all fall under the definition of prayer. Prayer includes (but is not limited to) presenting our requests to the Lord, asking Him for specific things, praising Him, giving thanks to Him, and worshiping Him by sitting in His presence.
Prayer is one of the greatest privileges we have as God’s people. God has made Himself available to us through prayer. Prayer is one of the main forms through which we commune with God and can talk with Him and let Him speak to us.
Prayer Shed
Located behind the ministry house at 6686 Del Playa Drive, the prayer shed is a room that has been devoted to God for the purpose of prayer and worship. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple." - Psalms 27:4
Spending time in the prayer shed seeking God‘s face brings refreshing to the body of Christ (Acts 3:19) and helps advance his kingdom of peace in Isla Vista. You can step into the prayer shed and sense that it is a holy place, a place radically different from the rest of Isla Vista, and especially the party scene on Del Playa Drive. Its prime location offers believers the chance to do spiritual battle from within the heart of the city.
We desire that all who enter would have total freedom to encounter the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. This freedom to worship and commune with God is expressed through quiet prayer and meditation, group intercession, laying on of hands, singing, dancing, painting, journaling, or even drawing and writing on the chalkboard.
Strategic and continuous prayer and worship are essential to seeing the kingdom of God come to Isla Vista. Christians from all over IV (and across Santa Barbara) are welcome to use the prayer shed to meet with the Lord individually or in groups at any time of the day or night.
